Our Mission

At Freedom Flight Academy, our mission is to introduce veterans to the world of powered paragliding and to build a strong, supportive community through aviation. We believe that flight offers more than just lift—it brings healing, purpose, and connection. By combining professional flight instruction with scholarship opportunities, we make this experience and alternative therapy readily accessible to those who have served our country.

How It Works

Freedom Flight Academy operates as a non-profit flight school in Glasgow, Kentucky. We offer introductory flights and beginner training programs for both veterans and civilians. Tuition from our general students, along with donations, sponsorships, and grants, goes directly into a scholarship fund that covers the full cost of a 12 day course, equipment and lodging for disabled veterans.

All students, veterans and civilians, receive:

  • Full ground and flight instruction

  • Access to school owned powered paragliding equipment for training

  • Special rates at all sponsored events and fly-ins.

  • Ongoing mentorship from certified instructors and aviation peers

  • Exclusive access to annual alumni retreats

Our team is made up of experienced pilots, instructors, and veterans who are passionate about aviation and giving back. Every flight is an opportunity to build confidence, bond with others, and rediscover a sense of purpose.

Brennan Morgan, Founder

Growing up on a 100-acre cattle farm in rural Southern Kentucky, Brennan Morgan spent his childhood gazing at the sky—dreaming of flying like the birds and seeing the world beyond the farm fences. His earliest connection to aviation came through his older brother, with whom he shared a love for aircraft, paper airplane dogfights, and dreams of one day becoming pilots together. After losing his brother in high school, Brennan set aside his dream. College plans faded when he lost both of his part-time jobs, and with no other options, he joined the United States Marine Corps. While serving in intelligence, he was stationed around the world, including at air stations in Japan and a diplomatic post in Ottawa, Canada—where he rediscovered aviation and began fixed-wing flight training in his rare off-duty hours. But just before completing his rotor-wing program after military service, Brennan was struck in a head-on motorcycle accident. The injuries he sustained disqualified him from earning the medical clearance required for piloting. After years of schooling and spending his GI Bill on flight training, his dream was grounded again. For years afterward he avoided looking skyward or even the sounds of aircraft as he navigated through the aftermath of a divorce. While working in IT and raising his child as a single father, Brennan was introduced to powered paragliding by a coworker. Skeptical at first due to the FAA medical requirements, he researched the sport and discovered that flying was once again possible—no license or medical certificate required. In 2021, he trained for his USPPA PPG rating and took his first solo flight. It was in the air—8,000 feet above the earth months later, engine off, gliding in silence—pure silence, the kind where you can see the world without the sounds of cars, people, or nature - that Brennan rediscovered a sense of peace and purpose he hadn’t felt since his time in uniform. That experience ignited the founding of Freedom Flight Academy, a nonprofit dedicated to helping other veterans reclaim that same feeling of freedom through powered paragliding. Today, Brennan continues to lead FFA with a mission rooted in personal healing, resilience, and a belief that flight can offer veterans not just adventure—but restoration, community, and hope.

WHY IT MATTERS

For many veterans, the return to civilian life comes with unexpected challenges—feelings of isolation, a loss of identity, and a search for renewed purpose. After years of structure, camaraderie, adrenaline fueled and mission-driven work, it’s not uncommon for service members to feel disconnected from the world around them. At Freedom Flight Academy, we’ve seen firsthand how flight can be a powerful and therapeutic tool in the healing process.

Powered paragliding offers more than just the thrill of flying—it provides clarity, focus, and a sense of freedom that many veterans haven't felt in years. The process of learning to fly reignites confidence, demands mindfulness, and opens the door to new goals and personal growth. In the air, there’s no rank, no brass, no noise—just you, the wind, and the horizon ahead.

But the transformation doesn’t happen alone. Our training environment brings together veterans and civilians, side by side, learning, practicing together, and supporting one another. These shared experiences build real, lasting bonds—restoring a sense of community and adventure that many thought they’d lost. Our flight school is not just about teaching skills; it’s about reigniting purpose and building a tribe where everyone belongs.

This mission matters because our veterans matter—and because everyone deserves the chance to rise above.
